About the Building Project

Following the opening of Stage 2A, the Elizabeth Blackburn School of Sciences in early 2014, the University of Melbourne proposed to continue with the next stage of development of the Western Precinct site.

The new Bio21 Stage 2B development will be built on the grounds of the University of Melbourne's Western Precinct site (also known as the Bio21 Institute and Veterinary Science precinct) at 30 Flemington Road Parkville, adjacent to University High School.

The building is located on the eastern perimeter of the site behind the Elizabeth Blackburn School of Sciences.

Main construction of the new Bio21 Stage 2B Development is anticipated to commence in July 2016 and operational in 2018.

The Stage 2B development comprises a new facility which will house university researchers and students and industry co-tenants. The new facility will have the capacity to accommodate approximately 140 scientists and students providing them with access to state-of-the-art facilities in a purpose built collaborative environment.
