Bio21 External Community Engagement

Open House

For the past four years, Bio21 has opened its doors to the general public, for tours through the institute and into some laboratories during the City of Melbourne’s ‘Open House’.

It is our biggest public engagement event, attracting around 500 people over a weekend, each year.

This year Open House will take place on the 27 and 28 July.

Research groups host display in the atrium and there are tours through our research laboratories and platform technology facilities.

‘Big Picture’ Seminar

The Bio21 Big Picture Seminar is a platform for a high level speaker to provide a big picture overview of their discipline and beyond, to reflect on the developments in the field, how they intersect with other disciplines and the implications for science and society.

We open up these lectures to a broad science-interested audience that may include researchers within the Institute, the University and precinct, but also alumni, school students and the general public.

Social Media

Connect to the Bio21 Community on social media. Bio21 has a Facebook page and a Twitter account, which is a great way to promote your event and to share relevant information with your peers.
