Biotechnology PhD scholarships - applications open

Biotechnology PhD scholarships –  Strategic  Research Australian Postgraduate Awards (STRAPA) (total $25,000 per annum)
Applications are open for two PhD projects at the Bio21 Molecular Science and Biotechnology Institute (Bio21 Institute). Prospective applicants should discuss potential projects with research supervisors at the University of Melbourne and Bio21 Institute across multidisciplinary areas in areas of medicine, agriculture, science and engineering. To be eligible, the PhD project must utilize a multidisciplinary approach as evidenced (in most cases) by the formal involvement of two PhD supervisors (one should be from within the Bio21 Institute, the second can be either external or internal). Additional funding will available for successful students to undertake a Graduate Certificate in Research Commercialization, or other appropriate training experiences.
Australian students should submit an application for PhD and APA scholarship to the University of Melbourne (http://cms.services.unimelb.edu.au/scholarships/pgrad/ )
They should also send
(1) a duplicate hard copy of their application to Professor Malcolm McConville (Bio21 Institute, University of Melbourne) together with
(2)  a cover letter outlining (i) the aims of the proposed PhD research project and (ii) the extent to which it utilizes a multidisciplinary approach.
(3) A letter from their proposed supervisors confirming the supervisor’s role in the project and suitability of the proposed project/applicant for a STRAPA
